STATMENT
On
this 43rd anniversary of Togo's accession to
international sovereignty, ABLODE,Inc invites the entire
Togolese Community in the US as well as the entire
Togolese people to place this memorable day under the
sign of meditation and prayer. The elections ahead of us
as well as the recent developpement in the political
life of our country challenge us all to meditate
profoundly on the political future of Togo.
ABLODE,Inc.
appeals to the goverment of Togo to use every possible
means, so that the elections of this year would be
organized in a democratic manner . The political
instability that reigns today throughout the whole
continent of Africa, reminds us that the interest of the
nation should be paramount and it should together with
political honesty, guide the government in its
decision-making in the days to come.
ABLODE,Inc.
remains confident about the ability of the people of
Togo in choosing their own leaders through the polls .
It is therefore important that the goverment gives
chance to the people to exercise this all-important
civic responsability and prerogative, and not to exclude
any candidate in this presidential election.
ABLODE,Inc.
wishes also to draw the attention of the Togolese
goverment to the importance of the protection of human
rights and individual freedom in these election periodes.
The sad events which caracterized the June 1998
elections and which have led the organizations for the
defense of human rights to raise alarm on the deeds of
the Eyadema regime in this domain should be avoided at
all costs.
In
the same way, ABLODE,Inc. demands the immediate release
of Mr. MARC PALANGA and Mr. MAZAMA KATASSA.
ABLODE,Inc.
thinks that these two militants of UFC ( Union of Forces
for Change) are prisoners of opinion and consequently
ask that they be set free immediately.
ABLODE,Inc.
announces that from this date, Monday, April 28th
2003,it has started a campaign for the release of these
two personalites. Finally, ABLODE,Inc. invites all
political parties in Togo to demonstrate their
patriotism, and place the interest of the nation before
theirs.
Good
luck to all
